Chinese New Year Dinner and Dance
In view of Tropical Cyclone Lusi bringing heavy rain and strong gales heading to Auckland this weekend, we reluctantly have to cancel the golf day on this Sunday.
The VMY 2014 Golf Tournament committee has decided to postpone the golf day to Sunday, 13th April, 2014 at Formosa Golf Resort, Auckland. All golfers who has paid and cannot make it for the new date, we will refund your entry fee. Please provide account number details. We will refund online or by cash.
I appologise for any inconvenience caused, especially for golfers who had made travel plans from Wellington, Christchurch, Malaysia and Vietnam, but weather is beyond my control. Let's pray and hope we will have good weather on Sunday, 13th April, 2014. See you all then.

Visit Malaysia Year Carnival 2014
Malaysia is celebrating a special year this year and its people are welcoming travellers from around the world with “Visit Malaysia Year 2014”.
To demonstrate to New Zealanders the hospitality and some of the diversity that Malaysia offers, Tourism Malaysia and the Auckland Malaysian Society are preparing to host a three day event on the 25th, 26th and 27th April 2014.
To be held at the Queens Wharf, Auckland’s waterfront, the “Visit Malaysia Year 2014 Carnival” will feature foods from many of the cultures that are to be found in Malaysia. Entertainers and dancers from Malaysia will also add to the spectacular and show off the colours and excitement to be found in Malaysia.
Entry is free to the public. Along with information at Tourism Malaysia booths, interactive activities will be available plus prizes to be won.
Auckland is a fabulous blend of many ethnicities and cultures. Malaysians are part of that mix. Through this carnival we want to share some of the culture and heritage from our homeland that adds to the wonderful diversity shaping New Zealand in 2014. In order to make this event even more personal, Tourism Malaysia is inviting Nadia Lim “Master Chef Winner” who is part Malaysian and part Kiwi, to blend and bind the two ethnically rich cultures together.
Auckland Malaysian Society would like to invite food stall vendors to participate in this occasion. If you are interested, please register your interest by emailing Roshidah at .

Deepavali Dinner and Dance
Deepavali is popularly known as the "festival of lights", the most significant spiritual meaning behind it is "the awareness of the inner light".
Central to Hindu philosophy is the belief that there is something beyond the physical body and mind which is pure, infinite and eternal, called the Athma.
The celebration of Deepavali as the "victory of good over evil", refers to the light of higher knowledge dispelling all ignorance, the ignorance that masks one's true nature, not as the body, but as the unchanging, infinite, immanent and transcendent reality.
With this awakening comes compassion and the awareness of the oneness of all things. This brings ananda (joy or peace). Just as we celebrate the birth of our physical being, Deepavali is the celebration of this inner light.
While the story behind Deepavali and the manner of celebration varies from region to region (festive fireworks, worship, lights, sharing of sweets), the essence is the same – to rejoice in the inner light.
Auckland Malaysian Society invites you to celebrate this occasion with us.
This is the first event organised by the new committee and we are looking forward to your support to make this event successful.
